Blues Dance Simulator Prototype - 3D physics Game
MADE in a few hours IN may 2016
For nearly two years now I have been attending dance classes and blues dancing has slowly become one of my favourite past times. At one of my weekly blues dance socials, a fellow dancer said it would be cool if there was a QWOP style game but for dancing. QWOP is a rag doll physics game where the player has to control the individual parts of an Olympic runners's legs. I saw this as an opportunity to try creating a comedy simulator game akin to the likes of Surgeon Simulator and Goat Simulator.
The game is a very simple prototype which I may do more work on in future. The player controls the lead dancer's legs with four keys. Each key will move one of the two legs forward or back. Another key makes the dancer move in a manner that is roughly similar to what is known as a swing pulse in blues dancing. The follower dancer will move to roughly match the lead's movements. The user is encouraged to play their own choice of blues music and try to match the rhythms without falling over. A video of the results can be seen below using the song "Got My Mojo Workin'" by Asylum Street Spankers. The game can be downloaded for windows from here: https://inquisitivegeek.itch.io/blues-dance-simulator-prototype
